FIFA 21 current-gen release date announced from mmocheaponline's blog

The release of a fresh edition of FIFA is one of the biggest events in the gaming calendar, when eager football fans get their hands on the new game and test out all the new features. FIFA 21 will be released this autumn on current generation and next generation consoles, making its debut on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X as well as launching updated editions on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Switch.

FIFA 21 will be released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on Friday, October 9, having being pushed back from its usual September release date due to the coronavirus pandemic. Anyone who has pre-ordered the digital version of the game wlll be able to access FIFA 21 three days early on Tuesday, October 6, while Early Access begins on Thursday, October 1.The demo for the game usually arrives three weeks before the official launch of the game. If this trend is followed this year, then the FIFA 21 demo will be available on Friday September 18.

As you'd expect, the physical copy of FIFA 21 on PS4 also includes your entitlement to download and play the PS5 version of the game (and Xbox One with Xbox Series X), so you still can upgrade for free if you buy a next-gen console with a disc drive. However, if you buy a discless next-gen console, you need to buy FIFA 21 digitally to take advantage of the upgrade offer "as physical discs cannot currently be used to upgrade to discless consoles".

Meanwhile, EA Sports said FIFA 21 on PC will be the same version as released on PS4 and Xbox One, so it sounds like PC is being left behind this year as the game transitions to the next-gen consoles. But, EA Sports did confirm FIFA 21 will launch on Steam as well as Origin on PC, making it the first game in the series to do so.
