Differentiating between narcolepsy and insomnia involves understanding their unique features. The inability to get asleep, remain asleep, or obtain restorative sleep is known as insomnia, and it results in chronic weariness throughout the day. Narcolepsy, on the other hand, is characterized by extreme drowsiness throughout the day, intense hallucinations, and an abrupt loss of muscular tone (cataplexy). Despite having distinct initial symptoms, there is no proof that one illness causes the other.

Nonetheless, narcolepsy sufferers may have worsening symptoms due to insomnia's irregular sleep patterns and long-term sleep loss. For narcoleptics, sleep problems may lead to more severe and frequent bouts of excessive daytime drowsiness throughout the day. For more info visit: Medzsquare
